But there are alarming signs that the situation is about to get a lot worse for the Queen.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OPINION<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No terse statement or sterile few sentences appearing on official letterhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/entertainment\/celebrity-life\/royals\/friends-of-prince-andrew-say-he-is-angered-by-claims-hes-not-cooperating-with-the-fbi\/news-story\/94894207fa8a562f6924413430c6224b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the latest sorry chapter&nbsp;<\/a>in the Prince Andrew saga erupted earlier this week, Buckingham Palace has remained tight lipped and declined to comment to the press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per a report today, they have even refused to name the lawyers who are acting for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overnight Tuesday (Australian time), US prosecutor Gabriel S. Berman&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/entertainment\/celebrity-life\/royals\/jeffrey-epstein-accusers-outraged-by-prince-andrews-lack-of-cooperation-with-fbi\/news-story\/a801715d04c6e390807c05c03a5408c2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sensationally revealed&nbsp;<\/a>in a press conference that Prince Andrew had provided \u201czero co-operation\u201d to authorities investigating convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.newsapi.com.au\/image\/v1\/6e681c31e079692830df1e40af57060f\" alt=\"According to a US prosecutor, Prince Andrew \u2013 whose public appearances have been scarce since the scandal erupted \u2013 publicly offered to co-operate with law enforcement in a press release, but did nothing more. A source close to the royal said the FBI had yet to approach Andrew. The US attorney is standing by his comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So here we are: Only one month into the new year and the royal family is already firmly mired in not one but two publicity quagmires. As uncomfortable and sad a thing as it is to even consider, it\u2019s impossible not to wonder: Has the Queen lost her iron grip?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now, the unfortunate picture is that Her Majesty\u2019s family is in disarray as they face various looming courtroom PR clashes, with three family members having recently lawyered up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.newsapi.com.au\/image\/v1\/e6bb41c3de3b72e7e98b1661174bb481\" alt=\"With all eyes on her, however the Queen chooses to handle the coming months will surely be one of the bigger tests of her reign. The (UK)&nbsp;<em>Telegraph&nbsp;<\/em>today has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/royal-family\/2020\/01\/28\/prince-andrew-says-received-no-request-speak-fbi-jeffrey-epstein\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported&nbsp;<\/a>that the Duke of York has hired \u201ca leading team of criminal lawyers who are painstakingly going through the details of the case as they consider how to react.\u201d The same report also claimed that the Duke \u201chad been holding weekly meetings with his lawyers at Royal Lodge, his Windsor home, and at Buckingham Palace in preparation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Various experts are currently thrashing it out in the press, debating what US authorities and lawyers acting for alleged victims of Epstein in civil matters might do next. Picture: Channel 5 My Story\"\/><figcaption> Picture: Channel 5 My Story<em>Source:Supplied<\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite his love\/hate relationship with the media, Thomas Markle has still agreed to take the stand against his daughter in what promises to be a very public upcoming trial against the Mail on Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While tabloid editors will be salivating at the prospect, royal courtiers are likely to be sweating under the collars of their Saville Row suits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of which is before we have even gotten to Harry\u2019s two cases of which little has been revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suffice to say, it looks like the Sussexes look set to be paying lawyers bills for a while to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The royal family now faces being bogged down in a number of protracted legal stoushes that could drag on for years and the only certain winners will be the lawyers happily charging extortionate rates each hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Win or lose, the potential PR damage that Andrew, Harry and Meghan\u2019s legal battles could inflict on the Palace is huge. The Queen and Co. scrupulously control what information \u2013 even the most mundane titbits \u2013 are allowed to enter the public arena. However now, the royal family is facing having its dirtiest of laundry luridly aired in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there have been a number of royal legal challenges over privacy concerns in the last few decades, they have normally been a means of last resort. If only someone had stepped in, wisely having foreseen that things would deteriorate to this degree, and found a solution.
