Man Accused of Trafficking, Kidnapping Underage Girls for Sex Withdraws Request for Bond, May Have More Victims"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> By\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlantablackstar.com\/author\/tanasia\/\">Tanasia Kenney<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A popular South Carolina promoter and disc jockey appeared in court Monday on human trafficking and child sex crimes charges, Florence station&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbtw.com\/news\/florence-man-appears-in-court-on-human-trafficking-child-sex-crime-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WBTW reported.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jason Roger Pope<\/strong>, 42, remains in jail without bond after withdrawing his request for a bond hearing. Pope\u2019s attorney, Mary Parham, didn\u2019t give a reason for the withdrawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantablackstar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Untitled-30-600x373.png\" alt=\"Jason Roger Pope Appears in Court\" class=\"wp-image-512324\"\/><figcaption> Jason Roger Pope (left) appeared in court Monday, where his attorney unexpectedly withdrew his request for a bond hearing. (Photo: WBTW \/ video screenshot)  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The local DJ,&nbsp; who was arrested in August, faces three counts of trafficking in persons, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and a count each of kidnapping, second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and promoting the prostitution of a minor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arrest warrants obtained<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmbfnews.com\/2019\/10\/09\/warrants-provide-details-man-center-florence-county-human-trafficking-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;by WMBF News<\/a>&nbsp;show that between July 2017 and July 2019, police say Pope forced four underaged girls to perform sex acts at his home. A 17-year-old victim told police that he gave her money, drugs and\/or other items in exchange for sex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the suspect\u2019s victims is listed as young as 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI suspected a long time ago that things weren\u2019t right over there because of who he had coming in and out,\u201d said a longtime neighbor of Pope\u2019s, who recalled several young-looking girls stopping by the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey looked like they were very young, underage maybe,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photos posted to the suspect\u2019s Facebook page,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/djkid.rogers\" target=\"_blank\">which is still active<\/a>, shows Pope posing and partying with mostly young African-American women in an album titled, \u201cDJ KID (PARTIES &amp; GIRLS \u2014 Part 1).\u201d In one of the pictures, he\u2019s seen grabbing a young woman by the buttocks as she straddles him in her underwear. He pulls another girl\u2019s pants down in a separate photo, exposing her thong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a Facebook screenshot, Pope reportedly once bragged that \u201cI\u2019m 36 with 693 BODIES (All Black females), WBU?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantablackstar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Untitled.png\" alt=\"Jason Roger Pope\" class=\"wp-image-512340\"\/><figcaption>(Photos: Jason Roger Pope \/ Facebook page)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In September, the party promoter reportedly&nbsp;sexually assaulted a 16-year-old, identified in arrest warrants as \u201cA.B.\u201d He is accused of paying the teen for sex. A similar incident occurred months earlier when a 14-year-old also claimed Pope paid her to have sex with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The allegations didn\u2019t stop there, however.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2011, Florence County deputies responded to a sexual misconduct call at a hospital where a 13-year-old girl said she had unprotected sex with Pope and later found out he was said to have had AIDS. She said a friend introduced her to the DJ, who gave her alcohol and drugs, per an account TV station WMBF gave of the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/atlantablackstar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/screenshot-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-512374\"\/><figcaption>Screenshot: Jason Hope\u2019s charges<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect allegedly assaulted a second victim that same day, who told deputies she too feared she had contracted AIDS from the man, the station said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those cases apparently were resolved without charges, but how and why that happened remain unclear.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, Pope was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor but he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of two counts of cruelty to children, WMBF News reported<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Pope is now behind bars, authorities believe there may be several more victims.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Tanasia Kenney A popular South Carolina promoter and disc jockey appeared in court Monday on human trafficking and child sex crimes charges, Florence station&nbsp;WBTW reported.
